Why We Prefer Working From Home

Working from home is a dream for many people. The idea that you can leave the office, stay away from your desk, and still complete your work sounds like paradise. Remote work offers incredible benefits that we’ll see even more in the future. It reduces costs, increases productivity and allows employees to balance their personal lives with their professional goals. In this post, we share why transitioning to remote first has worked for us and how it’s changing the world of work forever.
THE BEAUTY OF REMOTE WORK
The main appeal of remote work is that it reduces the need for physical proximity. We had a great office space in the heart of the city which we let go of during the pandemic
In other words, it’s about being able to work from a location other than your physical office. As the world becomes more global and technologically advanced, the desire to work remotely is increasing. Remote work allows the team to choose their location and manage their work/life balance more easily.
REMOTE TEAM PRODUCTIVITY
The belief that remote teams are less productive than their office-based counterparts is false. In fact, the opposite is true - at least for us. We feel our team is more productive, and less stressed than folks who have no choice but to commute to an office. The team feels more responsible for the success or failure of their projects. They get to explore their interests, learn new skills, and build accountability. Also since we are remote, there is no other option but to communicate effectively to get this done as planned. Finally, the remote team also has more time to work on their personal side projects or hobbies - we truly believe it's an important factor in work-life balance. All of this put together has resulted in more confidence in each one of us.
That said, we try to catch up in person at least once every 3 months and an annual team get-away (which we are eagerly looking forward to this year)
REMOTE WORK WILL GROW : IT'S THE FUTURE!
There are many indications why we choose to be remote first. Technology and internet speeds have never been more awesome. We have kept the tools very simple. We use Google Meet for all our catch ups as part of our GSuite. All async communication (text and videos) happens on Slack and threads. Cost savings from running a physical space are also shared as benefits to the team - to get access to facilities, events or tools that are helpful for them daily.

Remote work is the future for us. We are also expecting to see more remote work opportunities in the future, either in the form of full-time, part-time, or freelance work as well. It gives everyone more flexible work hours, gives them more control over their workload, and allows them to work in a distraction-free environment. We will keep reporting on this as the years go by. So far so good.
